This course is designed as a beginner’s crash course in digital DJ’ing. DD 101 will focus on teaching the basics of Rane’s Serato software and is perfect for individuals who want to learn Serato basics or are looking to explore the options and advantages in digital DJ’ing. Each student will have his/her own workstation equipped with turntables, a mixer, and computer with the Serato software. The course is a combination of lecture and lab, however, students will spend most of their time receiving hands-on training at their workstations.

Course Specifics:

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements		Students must have completed DJ 101 or have basic understanding of the DJ basics.
Equipment Requirements		None (all equipment will be provided). Students are allowed to bring in their own laptops and Serato if they should desire.
Class Size		6 (limited to 1 individual per workstation)
Course Length		3 Classes (80-minute classes meet once a week)
Make Up Classes		Meets weekly, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time.
Practice Times		Free. Mon-Thurs 10am-8pm, Fri 10am-6pm, Sun 1-5:30pm

• Installation of software and basic overview
• Organization of music inventory
• Basic beginner features and functionality of Serato
• Basic overview of 3 Serato Modes (Absolute, Relative, Internal)
• Beginner Troubleshooting Tips

Private Lessons
If you need to cancel or reschedule your lesson please notify Scratch more than 24 hours in advance to avoid fees. A $25 cancellation fee will be charged, if notification is not made in time. There are no refunds for Private Lessons. To reschedule or cancel your lesson, please call 212-529-1599 ext 300.

Course Cancellation
All course cancellations are subject to a $50 processing fee. Cancellations made after the course begins are subject to a $50 processing fee, plus a pro-rated amount for each class attended. In the event that Scratch DJ Academy cancels a course, the students’ payment will be credited towards the same course offered at a different time. To reschedule or cancel your lesson, please call 212-529-1599 ext 300.

Summer Session Cancellation
All Summer Session cancellations are subject to a $50 processing fee. Any Summer Session cancellations made by Scratch DJ Academy, AFTER students have paid in full will be credited to student in form of Private Lessons equivalent to the number of hours of the course. To reschedule or cancel your lesson, please call 212-529-1599 ext 300.

If you can’t make it to these courses, check out future DJ 101 terms at Scratch. New terms start about every 8 weeks. Also check out Scratch DJ Academy Summer Sessions. During Summer Session, all DJ 101 course material is covered during an intensive 5-day sessions in July and August.
