About The Academy
The Faculty

This 6-week course is designed for the person who wants to dive into beat production and remixing. Students will spend the majority of the time receiving hands on training with MIDI sequencing and digital audio editing software. Each student will learn at his or her own workstation equipped with a laptop and midi keyboard, and Ableton Live 5.0 software will be provided. Instruction will be available on both PC's and Mac's. At the conclusion of the 6 weeks, each student will leave the course with 2-4 complete beats and several production sequences to be used for future beat making projects. This overview course is ideal for students interested in starting their career in production, as well as for those interested in picking up a new hobby.

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements		None
Equipment Requirements		None. Laptops (PC and Mac) with Ableton Live 5.0 and Reason 2.5 software will be provided
Class Size		8 students (1 student per turntable set up)
Course Length		5 Classes (85-minute class meets daily for one week)
Practice Times		Free. Mon-Thurs 10am-8pm, Fri 10am-7pm, Sun 3-8pm

• Sampling and sequencing
• Basic music theory
• Basic compositional elements
