About The Academy
The Faculty

This 5-day course is designed for the person who has never stepped in front of a turntable and wants to learn the basics. The course is a combination of lecture and lab; however, students will spend the majority of the time receiving hands on turntable training. This overview course is ideal for students interested in starting their career as a DJ, as well as for those interested in picking up a new hobby.

Course Specifics:

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements		None.
Equipment Requirements		None (all equipment and records provided)
Class Size		30 students (2 student per turntable set up)
Course Length		5 Classes (85-minute class meets daily for one week)
Practice Times		Free. Mon-Thurs 10am-8pm, Fri 10am-7pm, Sun 3-8pm

Skills Covered:
• Equipment set up and break down
• Standard hand to record and hand to fader technique
• Basic music theory
• Basic mixing and blending
• Basic scratching
• Basic beat making

**COURSE CANCELLATION POLICY:
Please note that all Scratch DJ Academy courses and workshops are subject to cancellation up to the first scheduled day of class. In this event, all course or workshop payments will either be refunded in full or used as credit towards another Scratch DJ Academy course, private lesson, or workshop of equal or lesser value.

If you can’t make it to this course, check out future terms at Scratch. New terms start about every 8 weeks.
