The Faculty

This 3-week course is designed as a beginner’s crash course in digital DJ’ing. DD 101 will focus on teaching the basics of Rane’s Serato software and is perfect for individuals who want to learn Serato basics or are looking to explore the options and advantages in digital DJ’ing. Each student will have his/her own workstation equipped with turntables, a mixer, and computer with the Serato software. The course is a combination of lecture and lab, however, students will spend most of their time receiving hands-on training at their workstations.


Course Specifics:

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements		Students must have completed DJ 101 or have basic understanding of the DJ basics.
Equipment Requirements		None (all equipment will be provided). Students are allowed to bring in their own laptops and Serato if they should desire.
Class Size		6 (limited to 1 individual per workstation)
Course Length		3 Classes (80-minute classes meet once a week)
Make Up Classes		Meets weekly, 30 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time.
Practice Times		Free. Mon-Thurs 10am-8pm, Fri 10am-6pm, Sun 1-5:30pm

Skills Covered:
• Installation of software and basic overview
• Organization of music inventory
• Basic beginner features and functionality of Serato
• Basic overview of 3 Serato Modes (Absolute, Relative, Internal)
• Beginner Troubleshooting Tips
