About The Academy
The Faculty

This 6-week course is designed for people who want to start making beats. No prior music knowledge is required. Students will receive hands on training in MIDI sequencing and learn the basics of digital music production. Each student will learn at his or her own workstation equipped with a laptop computer and MIDI keyboard. Students will learn to use Reason music software to make their beats. Instruction is taught on a PC. However, the skills learned are applicable to Macs as well. At the conclusion of the 6 weeks, each student will leave the course with 3-6 complete beats and several production sequences to be used for future beat making. This course is ideal for men and women interested in starting their career in music production, or for those interested in picking up a new hobby.

Course Specifics:

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements		No prior music knowledge is required.
Equipment Requirements		Headphones and a USB thumb drive.
Class Size		8 students (1 student per workstation)
Course Length		6 Classes (2 hour class meets once a week)
Make Up Classes		Yes. Meets 1 hour before each class to review previous lesson.
Practice Times		Free. Mon-Fri 11am-8pm, Sun 4pm-7pm
