New York City
Rob Swift

This Queens native has been a force behind the decks for over two decades. Through his albums, performances, and affiliations, Rob has championed the DJ as a true musician. Embracing the turntable as a music instrument, he’s used beat juggling, scratching and his musical creativity to create his versatile and genre-expanding sound. He’s performed on ESPN, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, alongside the Blue Man Group, and even on Sesame Street. His artist collaborations include: Herbie Hancock, Fat Joe, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, Bob James, Mos Def, Cypress Hill and may others.

Under the tutelage of his older brother and father, Rob honed his chops in the late ’80s and was tapped by the Harlem based DJ crew, the X-Men, to join their ranks in 1991 alongside Roc Raida, Mista Sinista and Total Eclipse (due to obvious copyright issues, the group changed their name to the X-Ecutioners). Amassing loads of street credibility and titles, they became one of the first all-DJ groups to be signed to a recording contract and release a full-length album based on the turntable.

As a solo artist Rob has released 4 studio albums, each with their own unique flavor from Latin to jazz to ambient electronic-funk and beyond. No matter his affiliations or direction, Rob Swift will always continue to push the boundaries of music using the turntable as his tool.
