Growing up in Cali and now transplanted to Brooklyn, Eleven comprises 1/3 of the Rub Collective (along with Cosmo Baker and Ayers). Eleven –along with his Rub cohorts –is well-known for his keen crown intuition and hugely eclectic library and performances. Music has different meanings for different people in different places. “The [type] of music really affects the way people consume it. You listen to music a different way when you’re spending three hours in a car than if you’re spending twenty-five minutes on a subway with your headphones.” The same can be said about who you’re performing for: crowds in Brooklyn will react to tracks, tempo, and energy differently that crowds in Houston or San Francisco.
Eleven has been so successful because he researches and identifies with each and every one of his audiences. “A lot of it is crowd psychology, which is endlessly fascinating to me – is how you move a group of people.” Oh, and his DJ skills are crazy too.
His dedication and approach to the art form has worked wonders. He’s traveled and performed all over the world, released numerous highly-acclaimed mixtapes, and is well-respected throughout the DJ world.
