Born in Kingston, Jamaica and relocated to Miami, Suga Ray learned what the turntable was from watching his father DJ at parties at home, discovering what proved to be his true calling. Suga Ray has been rockin’ the turntables since the age of 15. After moving to New York, he gained experience DJ’ing at his college doing school parties as well as the college radio station. After graduating Ray worked for a NY Radio Station, “Hot 97″, as an opening DJ.

Suga Ray has packed parties for numerous celebrities like Matt Damon, Quincy Jones, Adam Sandler, and even the “Sex and the City” cast. Adding to his credentials, he has done events for MTV, the X Games, numerous national festivals and conferences, and high-end private events; including Oprah’s recent walkathon. Additionally Ray has played clubs throughout not only New York City, but all over the US and world. He has collaborated alongside rap artists like Styles P from the Lox, Day 26 of MTV’s Making the band, rapper and actor Mos Def, and the rock group Styx.

Formally a student of Scratch Academy, with his amicably addictive personality and quality DJ’ing skills, Suga Ray landed him a spot as one of Scratch’s premier event DJ’s and teachers. Perfecting the art of “scratching” on the turntables, Ray travels across the US to introduce and expand Scratch DJ Academy in other cities other than New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.
