How do I know which level class I should sign up for?

The Scratch DJ Academy is currently offering 5 different levels of courses: 101, 151, INT, 202, and 303. The 101 course is aimed at people who have never stepped behind a pair of turntables. It is designed to introduce people to the equipment, and teach them basic mixing, blending and scratching techniques. The 151 course is designed for people who already know the basics but are trying to improve their blending and mixing, and want to learn some new techniques. The INT course combines the 101 and 151 courses into one extended 10-week course. This intensive course focuses on perfecting technique and provides extra practice time as well as the opportunity to put together a 4-6 record routine which can be recorded at the end of the semester. The 202 course is designed for people who want to learn how to scratch. While previous turntable is preferred, it is not required. The class starts with the equipment basics, and then covers basic to intermediate level scratching. The 303 course is designed for experienced DJ’s who are interested in learning advanced scratch technique.

How much will I learn in one semester?

It depends on the course. All classes are taught along with a course pack so that you can take the lessons home with you and continue to practice what you’ve learned in classs. As with any instrument, you will not be able to learn to DJ within 6 weeks, however, you will walk out of the classes with a good conceptual understanding of new skills as well as how you’ll need to practice them. Each student’s learning curve will also depends upon both their natural ability and the amount of time that they practice.

Will I receive a diploma or certificate if I take one of the Academy’s courses?

Yes, the Scratch DJ Academy provides all of its graduates with a certificate of completition at the end of the semester.

Do you offer any sort of job placement after completion of a course?
